CAMPS Hosts Hands-On AI Workshop for Manufacturers

The Center for Advanced Manufacturing Puget Sound (CAMPS) is hosting an Interactive Technical Workshop for Manufacturers on September 16, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Perry Technical Institute in Yakima.

Through YCDA’s partnership with CAMPS manufacturing companies can receive 50% off registration by using promo code YCDA50, bringing the registration cost to just $25.

Unlike a traditional presentation about artificial intelligence, this workshop is designed as a hands-on working session. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops and will have the opportunity to use AI tools during the workshop and begin developing practical solutions they can take back to their businesses.

The workshop will be led by Craig Hanela, who owns three manufacturing companies and has incorporated AI into his own manufacturing operations. Using tools such as ChatGPT and Claude, Hanela has built dashboards to analyze ERP data, improve reporting, identify data issues, and support better operational decision-making.

During the session, Hanela will demonstrate how he built these tools and how he uses them within his businesses. Participants will then work alongside him to begin developing tools that can be applied to their own operations.

This workshop is designed to move beyond simply talking about AI. Manufacturers will have the opportunity to actually use the technology, ask questions, work through real-world applications, and explore how AI can help address challenges within their businesses.

Attendance is intentionally limited to allow participants to engage directly with the instructor and get the most out of the hands-on format.

The workshop is another opportunity available to local manufacturers through YCDA’s partnership with CAMPS, which is focused on strengthening connections among Central Washington manufacturers and expanding access to industry expertise, resources, and professional development opportunities.
