On October 5, 2024, Columbia Basin College hosted the inaugural Spanish WA Biz Fair, marking a pivotal moment for business owners and entrepreneurs across the state.  YCDA’s Bilingual Business Development Manager, Yani was an integral member of the planning committee, contributing expertise and dedication to ensure the event met the expectations and needs of participants.

This groundbreaking event was designed to serve the Spanish-speaking community, providing vital resources, networking opportunities, and workshops tailored specifically to their unique needs.

Event Highlights:

  • Workshops and Panel Discussions: Attendees benefited from a wide array of sessions focused on key topics such as business planning, funding strategies, marketing in a bilingual market, and navigating local business regulations. 
  • Expert Speakers: Industry professionals and successful business leaders shared their knowledge and personal experiences, offering inspiration and actionable advice.
  • Networking Opportunities: The fair provided a unique platform for Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs to connect with one another, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

The Spanish WA Biz Fair is no just an event; its a movement toward inclusivity and support for Washington’s diverse business community.  YCDA is proud to have contributed to an event that not only empowers local businesses but also strengthens the economic fabric of the region.  The event was organized by the following organizations:The Office of Regulatory Innovation & Assistance (ORIA), the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Washington State Commission on Hispanic Affairs, and the Washington Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

Looking Ahead YCDA remains committed to fostering opportunities that bridge gaps and support all business owners in Yakima County and beyond.  The success of the first WA Biz Fair lays the foundation for continued growth, more resources, and greater participation in future business development initiatives.
