YAKIMA, WA.–Pacific Power hosted a community Wildfire Safety Forum last week held at Yakima Valley College Conference Center. Attendees listened to presentations from leadership at Pacific Power about the growing dangers of wildfires across the country.
Pacific Power is adapting its operating policies in preparation for extreme weather conditions to mitigate wildfire risks. Pacific Power discussed improved grid resiliency, operational best practices, and proactive de-energization to enhance community safety.
Attendees had the opportunity to have their wildfire-related questions answered by their panel of experts. Questions ranged from the effect of “de-energization” on grid reliability, the economic impact on industrial operations, and concern for residents who rely on health devices that are dependent on power.
