Following an initial $60 million investment in 2024, this expansion will increase applesauce jar line capacity at the Sunnyside facility
NATIONAL HARBOR, Maryland – Manzana Products Co. announced its plans to invest an additional $2 million to upgrade its new production site in Yakima at the SelectUSA Investment Summit in partnership with the Yakima County Development Association (YCDA) and the Washington State Department of Commerce. This follows an initial $60 million investment in Yakima County, announced in 2024. Manzana made the announcement at the Washington state booth alongside YCDA and state leaders.
The project includes an additional $2 million investment to upgrade Manzana’s organic applesauce jar production line, further increasing capacity and enabling future volume growth and job creation through new production shifts. This investment will enhance the company’s ability to process applesauce variants, including products blended with ingredients such as cinnamon, banana, strawberry, and other fruits, and will include a new conveying system for empty jars, as well as an upgraded cleaning system to support higher production volumes.
“Manzana is proud to continue our investment in Yakima County, following the announcement of the $60 million investment we made in 2024,” said Andy Kay, CEO of Manzana. “Our mission is to make high-quality applesauce, juice, and apple cider vinegar, and we are excited to start operations in Sunnyside in September 2026.”
Manzana is a subsidiary of Agrial, a French agricultural cooperative, and a leader in apple processing and value-added agricultural products. Its expansion reflects the company’s continued growth and long-term commitment to the U.S. market. Manzana is known for its innovation, strong grower partnerships, and high-quality product offerings. It serves customers across global markets and plays a key role in advancing value-added agriculture.
“Ensuring that Manzana has the support needed for continued growth has been our priority,” said Jonathan Smith, Executive Director for Yakima County Development Association. “As the largest apple-producing county in the nation, this expansion builds on our region’s strengths in agriculture and food processing and brings new opportunities for local workers and businesses.”
Dedicated to building investment through partnership in Yakima County, YCDA’s work with Manzana and Commerce began years ago with support for site selection and the initial investment. The site chosen was previously a Seneca fruit food processing facility that closed in October 2019.
The production line investment will be located at the company’s existing facility in Sunnyside, Washington, and will increase capacity for applesauce, supporting both domestic and international demand. Installation of the applesauce jar line is expected to begin in May 2027, with operations anticipated to start in August 2027.
“Manzana’s expansion in Sunnyside is a strong signal of confidence in Washington’s agricultural sector and our ability to support global food processing companies,” said Andrea Chartock, Assistant Director of the Office of Economic Development and Competitiveness at Commerce. “This investment strengthens our value-added agriculture industry, supports local growers, and creates quality jobs in the region.”
Governor Bob Ferguson and Commerce supported Manzana’s relocation to the Yakima Valley with a $250,000 grant from the state’s Strategic Reserve Fund last year. Manzana’s additional investment for its organic applesauce jar production will increase its capacity and enable future growth and job creation through new production shifts.
Washington State produces more than 60 percent of the nation’s apples, with the Yakima Valley serving as one of the most productive agricultural regions in the country. Proximity to this reliable, high-quality supply, combined with strong infrastructure and a skilled workforce, continues to make the region an ideal location for food processing investment.
