Rob Hodgeman, City of Yakima Airport Manager, and Jonathan Smith of YCDA emphasized the regional significance of this modernization effort. The SIED Board unanimously approved the funding, recognizing the project’s critical role in shaping the region’s economic future.

City of Yakima Ahtanum/Wiley City Sewer Planning Grant

A $120,000 grant was awarded to the City of Yakima to conduct a feasibility study for addressing domestic and industrial wastewater challenges in the Wiley City area. This study is essential for determining the best approach to modernize and expand wastewater infrastructure to support residential, educational, and industrial needs.

Trevor Martin, Planning Manager for the City of Yakima, presented the feasibility study’s objectives and cost estimates, supported by data from HLA. Jonathan Smith, executive director of YCDA highlighted the historical context and the importance of upgrading infrastructure within the Urban Growth Area to drive sustainable development.
