YAKIMA, Wash. – September 24, 2024 – The small business community will be getting more assistance to grow, thrive, and succeed in Yakima County thanks to a $30,000 small business grant awarded to the Yakima County Development Association (YCDA) by the Wells Fargo Foundation.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Wells Fargo Foundation for their generous grant,” said Jonathan Smith, YCDA Executive Director. “The funding will allow us to provide business development resources ensuring local small businesses have the tools needed to grow to the next level”
The grant will help approximately 70 small businesses in Yakima County, each in operation for at least two years with fewer than 30 employees, by providing them with the opportunity to learn new skills and elevate their business to the next level.
Specific business development workshops will help business owners learn all about financial and digital literacy; human resource management; marketing and promotions; real estate management; and strategic small business financing.
At completion of the program, ten participants will also have an opportunity to receive their own grant of $10,000 in professional consulting businesses to help their business expand and hire new employees.
With one of the largest Hispanic populations in the entire state of Washington, at about 50 percent according to the latest United States Census numbers, this grant will have an immense small business impact in Yakima County.
